ROTARY VOCATIONAL SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD

ConteWe salute our colleague Ananda Gamage who has taken the initiative of asking our valued Columbus Tours clientele to plant trees on each and every tour… to help save the environment! And we are very proud to announce that ROTARY International has recognized this admirable gesture and has in turn presented Ananda with a ROTARY VOCATIONAL SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD, which is also a great honor to Columbus Tours Sri Lanka! Our heartiest and warm CONGRATULATIONS go out once again to our dear colleague Ananda, and we thank him so much for doing his part to help save our environment. Keep up the good work Ananda! Cheers! All our colleagues and friends at Columbus Tours Sri Lanka.nt goes here

A message from Ananda Gamage himself………..  I started the tree planting campaign on the 26th of June 2012. Since then I have continued to do this with all our clients… On each and every tour, my clients plant a tree for a poor family… The variety of trees planted range from mango trees, coconut and king coconut trees, avocado trees and oranges trees. With these plants, in 3 to 4 years, the families will find fruits budding… The fruits of which they can consume themselves or sell to others thereby earning themselves some extra money.

The trees planted also good for our environment! And if our natural environment is good, there will be more tourists flocking to our shores J so it helps my job as well! As at date I have with my clients planted a total of 206 trees for 54 poor families in rural Sri Lanka.

Each year (as I have a record of all tress planted) I take a picture of the particular tree planted and send same to my client who planted the seeds, just to let them know how their “plant babies” are growing and progressing!

This is the my way to help make a better tomorrow!

Thank you.
